Use 2-Factor Authentication to Protect Your Account

May 6, 2020

We’re constantly working to ensure your account is secure and well-protected. But if you’d like to protect yourself even further, then do check out 2-factor authentication; a new feature we’ve just added to our platform. In addition to your account password, this process prompts you to enter in a one-time code, usually from a separate device such as your smartphone. By enabling this feature, you maximize your protection against unauthorized access.

This is a highly effective way to protect your account because even if your password is stolen, it won’t be enough for an intruder to gain access.

You can enable 2-factor authentication by going to your Security tab in your profile settings. For more details, check out the graphic below.

There are two different ways to gain access to codes:

  1. Through an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Duo Mobile, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy.
  2. SMS message.

We recommend using authenticator apps, as they’re the more secure and reliable option compared to text messages. SMS messages may not reach certain countries and they can be delayed in their delivery too.

If you don’t have access to a phone, then you can use one-time use only backup codes, which will be automatically generated after enabling 2-factor authentication. Please save these codes and keep them in a safe place so that you don’t lose access to your account.

Here’s an example of what these codes look like in our pop-up.

We recommend that you enable 2-factor authentication to maximize account protection. For other ways to protect your account, please check here.
