Tunisia Inflation Rate Hits New 4-Decade High of 10.4%

The annual inflation rate in Tunisia rose for the 17th straight month to 10.4% in February 2023, the highest since late 1984, up from 10.2% in January.

Main upward pressure continued to come mostly from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (15.6% vs 14.1% in January), but also furnishings & household equipment (12.1% vs 11.9%); transportation (12.1% vs 12.8%); miscellaneous goods & services (10.3% vs 10.4%); restaurants & hotels (9.8%, the same as in January) and clothing and footwear (9.4% vs 9.5%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up by 0.5% in February, following a 0.8% rise in the prior month.
