The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) conducted a survey among 3,300 German companies about investment and the future of German manufacturing. The responses of those surveyed indicate that 37% of firms either plan to reduce production within the country, or want to move it out of Germany, or do both.

Frankfurter Allgemeine records a deterioration in the expectations of German industrialists, because two years ago half as many respondents announced such plans - 21%. The situation is made even worse by the fact that among large enterprises (more than 500 employees) an even larger number of firms announced the curtailment of production in Germany - 51%.

For DIHK, the main culprit of the situation is obvious - the failed energy policy of Germany and the so-called “energy transition” of Robert Habeck. Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Shinichi Uchida has indicated that the central bank is unlikely to raise interest rates in the near term due to current market instability.

🇨🇭WHO CONSIDERS GLOBAL EMERGENCY DECLARATION AS MPOX SPREADS IN AFRICA

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that he will convene an expert group to assess whether the increasing spread of mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) in Africa warrants a global emergency declaration.

Mpox has been detected in 10 African countries this year, with cases up 160% and deaths up 19% compared to last year.

Congo accounts for over 96% of all cases and deaths, with 70% of cases in children under 15.

WHO has released $1 million from its emergency fund to support the response.

A new, potentially more transmissible form of the deadlier version of mpox has emerged in Congo, raising concerns about its spread.

While Western countries largely contained mpox with vaccines and treatments, these resources are largely unavailable in Africa.
