2022- the good news and the bad news

Mis à jour
As we usher in 2022, and reflect on 2021; it has been a good year for markets and a year of consolidation for Gaia and those who inhabit her

So thoughts drift to what 2022 will bring. Some of us believe the charts forecast not only the future of our markets but also the future of our world.

The world has changed irrevocably since the Corona virus pandemic. Technology has been utilised; and home working has become the norm. Supply chain disruption continues to affect the world economy. Pent up demand was realised; and now growth fears are seen- especially in the bond markets.

So the good news: industry 3 (the IT revolution) has brought us so far; and the growth seen on the SPX chart is reflective of this. Despite a bear market in between, since the 70s we have seen unparalleled growth on the back of loose money (Nixon's revocation of the gold standard in '71) and tech. Poster bois for big tech include Apple and Microsoft. What comes next may be even more impressive: industry 4 and 5 will see the rise of the machines with M2M, AI, IoT, blockchain and decentralisation of the internet. The reset may indeed be great, but...

The bad news: you can't have a great reset without a financial one.

The era of loose money is coming to an end. You can't grow your way out of peak debt. And Gaia demands degrowth. Industry 4 and 5 will see tech based deflation across markets and the popping of the bubbles created by the end stages of the debt-based fiat system.

Spx target 1.5k.
