Find a support or resistance level. Identify point 1 then point 2 for where that identified level is being tested. Use your own common sense to decide what direction the chart will be going. The position from the level being tested along with some basic trend indicators should give you an idea.
This is probably the absolute basics of chart analysis but are often forgotten or looked past due to a flood of so many pretty and easy to implement indicators, strategies and auto-whatevers.
