Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
How are engulfing patterns detected?
Engulfing patterns are formed when a candlestick completely engulfs the previous candlestick. For a bullish engulfing pattern, a bullish candlestick follows a bearish one. For a bearish engulfing pattern, a bearish candlestick follows a bullish one.
Which timeframes work best with this indicator?
Engulfing patterns are generally more reliable on daily and higher timeframes, but you can test the indicator on different timeframes to see if it fits your trading strategy.
Can I detect a reversal or trend?
As can be seen in the image, it sometimes appears as a return signal and sometimes as a harbinger of an ongoing trend. But it may be a mistake to use the indicator only for these purposes. However, this indicator may not be sufficient when used alone. It can be combined with different indicators from the Tradingview library.
Updates and Changelog:
v1.0: Initial release. Added detection and color coding for bullish and bearish engulfing patterns.

5m Candle OverlayDescription:
The 5m Candle Overlay indicator is a powerful technical analysis tool designed to overlay 5-minute candles onto your chart. This indicator enables detailed analysis of price action within the 5-minute time frame, providing valuable insights into short-term market movements.
How it Works:
The 5m Candle Overlay indicator calculates the OHLC (Open, High, Low, Close) values specifically for the 5-minute time frame. By utilizing the request.security function, it retrieves the OHLC values for each 5-minute candle. The indicator then determines the color for each candle based on a comparison between the close and open prices. Bullish candles are assigned a green color with 75% opacity, while bearish candles are assigned a red color with 75% opacity. Additionally, the indicator checks if the current bar index is a multiple of 5 to prevent overlapping and enhance visualization.
Usage:
To effectively utilize the 5m Candle Overlay indicator, follow these steps:
1. Apply the 5m Candle Overlay indicator to your chart by adding it from the available indicators.
2. Observe the overlay of 5-minute candles on your chart, providing a detailed representation of price movements within the 5-minute time frame.
3. Interpret the candles:
- Bullish candles (green by default) indicate that the close price is higher than the open price, suggesting potential buying pressure.
- Bearish candles (red by default) indicate that the close price is lower than the open price, suggesting potential selling pressure.
4. Note that the indicator plots candles with a vertical offset every fifth indicator to prevent overlapping, ensuring clarity and ease of interpretation.
5. Combine the analysis of the 5-minute candles with other technical analysis tools, such as support and resistance levels, trend lines, or indicators from different time frames, to gain deeper insights and identify potential trade setups.
6. Implement appropriate risk management strategies, including setting stop-loss orders and position sizing, to effectively manage your trades within the 5-minute time frame and protect your capital.
Probability of Candle Close Higher Than OpenThe "Probability of Candle Close Higher Than Open" indicator is designed to help traders assess the likelihood of a given candle closing higher than its open based on the previous candle's price action. It does this by calculating a probability score between 0 and 1 and displaying it on the chart, along with a horizontal line representing a user-defined probability threshold.
The indicator uses three input variables to determine the probability score:
lookback_period: This input defines the number of previous candles to consider when calculating the probability. By default, it is set to 2, meaning the indicator considers the previous two candles.
prev_high and prev_low: These variables are calculated using the highest() and lowest() functions, respectively, and represent the highest high and lowest low of the previous lookback_period candles.
prev_body: This variable calculates the absolute value of the difference between the open and close prices of the previous candle.
The probability score is then calculated based on the following conditions:
If the current candle's open price is higher than the previous lookback_period candles' highest high, the probability score is set to 0.1 (indicating a low probability of the candle closing higher than its open).
If the current candle's open price is lower than the previous lookback_period candles' lowest low, the probability score is set to 0.9 (indicating a high probability of the candle closing higher than its open).
If neither of the above conditions apply, the probability score is calculated using the following formula:
If the previous candle closed higher than its open, the probability score is set to 0.5 plus half of the previous candle's body (i.e., the absolute difference between its open and close prices).
If the previous candle closed lower than its open, the probability score is set to 0.1 plus half of the previous candle's body.
If the previous candle closed at the same price as its open, the probability score is set to 0.1.
Finally, the indicator plots the probability score as a label on the chart and a horizontal line representing the probability threshold.

Blended CandlesHave been looking at YouTube and found a few videos about Blended Candles. Couldn't find a script here so I decided to script something myself.
I have also added a couple of EMA's, saves having to put them in individually.
You can Look Back as far back as you want but I find that each time frame looks better if you keep it to multiple of the next
IE : 1 min - look back 5 (5 min) up to 15 (15 min)
5 min - look back 3 (15 min) up to 12 (1 hour)
15 min - look back 4 (1 hour) up to 16 ( 4 hours)
1 hour - look back 4 (4 hours) up to 8 (8 hours - 1 trading session)
4 hour - look back 2 (8 hours - 1 trading session) up to 6 ( 1 Day)
1 day - look back 5 ( 1 week)
Shooting stars, Hammers and Doji's are very easy to recognize
Long wicks on top - Bearish
Long wick on bottom - Bullish
Support and Resistance is easier to spot as well :-)
Hope this helps someone - defiantly helps me time entries
Comments welcome and Happy Trading

Candlestick Pattern - All PatternsHi,
Here I have collated all of the in-built TradingView candlestick patterns into one indicator.
It works on all time frames and can be useful for candlestick traders to quickly spot patterns forming on any chart.
It also allows for all individual patterns to be set up as seperate alerts within the same indicator.
Any issues/suggestions/requests let me know.
Enjoy!
Shark-32 Pattern for Candle sticks AnalysisThis script is the perfect strategy for the all mighty shark-32 pattern.
It shows the power tussle between demand and supply before either of them finally gives up.
Hull Candles [BigBitsIO]This script is for custom candles based on an HMA calculation with a default period of 10 as well as an SMA of the close price, defaulted to 1 period to only show the current price. The purpose of the custom candles is to try and reduce noise from candles and help identify trends. These custom candles somewhat resemble Heikin-Ashi candles in their appearance.
Explained:
- Open, High, Low and Close (o, h, l, and c) are all calculated using an HMA calculation based on a user input length/period, defaulted at 10.
- Candle colors are determined by using the same HMA calculation on the ohcl4 and comparing it to the previous candle. Green candles have an ohlc4 greater than the previous candle, all other candles are red.
- The current price is plotted with the default blue line with an SMA calculation with 1 period to allow customization of smoothing if necessary to identify trends.

Dark Cloud Cover Pattern Trading Setupthis study is another script based on the candlestick pattern . there are a few filters implemented to be applied to the output result to clear out noises. it sounds like finding real Dark Cloud Cover instances are too rare (interesting though!).
Dark Cloud Cover
it is a bearish reversal candlestick pattern where a down candle (typically bearish) opens above the close of the prior up candle (typically bullish) and then closes below the midpoint of the up candle. The five criteria for the Dark Cloud Cover pattern are:
An existing bullish uptrend.
An up (bullish) candle within that uptrend.
A gap up on the following day.
The gap up turns into a down (bearish) candle.
The bearish candle closes below the midpoint of the previous bullish candle.
all these criteria are implemented in code to produce a more accurate result.
please provide me with your valuable comments,
thanks for your attention,
Candles - Cheat SheetWhat is up y'all ? (french trying to sound American)
I found that in my script archives, way back in an old cave. I think this might be useful as a few really asked me how to define a green/red candle, how to capture the wick value, the body, etc..
This is not a fancy script as usual and I'm sure they're plenty of candles pattern scripts out there but I saw no one sharing a simple candle cheat sheet for pinescript coding
Being able to define candles using codes is an essential skill to have for any Pinescripter
Still on the train so won't write a roman as usual... Kidding... I actually did it here What-is-an-Hard-Exit-and-a-few-notes-on-trading-management/
It won't bring me as many likes as any magic p**p cannon accounts promising the moon at each trade but if I can help at least 1 trader a day not losing his/her money, I'll be happy and my daily goal will be fulfilled
All the best
Dave
