What is wrong with reputation on TradingView? - for new users

Most of us stumbled across popular profiles that are often portrayed on main page or among Editor’s pick. These profiles often have high reputation and many followers. New or inexperienced investor might think that this would reflect user’s expertise. However, that is not the case. Despite the fact that TradingView is great platform and it offers great set of tools, there are several design flaws that are exploited by its users. Reputation is one of them. It does reflect user’s contribution to the community and it is based on quantity of content like ideas, comments and likes. However, it does not take into account looking at expertise of work. Because of that we often see popular profiles just spamming content regardless of what market does. In addition to that we often see same profiles to have very low accuracy in their forecasts while simultaneously offering pre-paid trading signals or money management. We view this as rather harmful than useful to the new investors and we would like community on TradingView to be aware of it. Current design of reputation allows people to achieve high popularity on TradingView even with low level of expertise within the industry. Thus, all investors should be aware of who they follow and who they listen to.
