PIVX (Private Instant Verified Transaction), is an open-source cryptocurrency based on blockchain technology.

The primary goal of PIVX is to provide private and anonymous transactions along with decentralized governance. The project utilizes the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus model, making it more energy-efficient compared to blockchains that rely on the Proof-of-Work (PoW) model. User data protection is facilitated through SHIELD, a configurable privacy protocol based on zk-SNARKs Sapling, integrated into the Proof of Stake mechanism. Additionally, the project distinguishes itself through a self-funded system where a portion of the block rewards is allocated towards its own development.
