TSX opens flat as declines in miners offset broader gains

Canada's main stock index opened flat on Thursday, as broader gains were offset by declines in mining stocks in a holiday-thinned trading session.
At 9:31 a.m. ET, Toronto's S&P/TSX composite index 
TSX was flat at 31,178.53 points.
