Simulation of Gunbot Stepgain strategy useful for fine tuning settings and backtesting. Set chart period (5min, 15min, etc...) to match what you will enter as period in strategy.

In Pine Editor -> Open "Gunbot Stepgain Tuner" -> Add To Chart -> On Indicator -> Format -> Input your desired settings to test.

Pink = Sell Level

Orange = Buy Protection Level

Yellow = Slow MA

Blue = Fast MA

Green = Buy Level

Fixed BUY_LEVEL protection. It was incorrectly set to prevent buys ABOVE lowest EMA, should have been set to prevent buys BELOW lowest EMA.

Added ability to select date range to be backtested. Previously when you changed chart period it changed the number of days being backtested which meant as you increased the chart period (for example from 5min to 15min) you also increased the number of days traded, so you could not compare apples to apples which period would yield best returns. Now you can. Simply input the Period, From, and To dates and then change the chart period to match to view updated results.

NOTE: There is a limit in backtesting to 2000 orders, so please be aware of this when setting your date ranges. If you set your range too high, you may be exceeding this limit on some periods and not on others, so this would yield incorrect comparison of returns per period. If you see in your backtesting results that you are nearing this limit for one of your periods you are testing, then reduce the date range to a smaller number of days.

Renamed fields and added fields to better match latest versions of Gunbot.

Implemented Auto Period so you no longer have to switch it when you change period in chart.

Improved response time of TrendWatcher (next update will incorporate SMA features).

Changed prices to use the average of High & Low to better match Gunbot's Bid Ask prices.

Improved plotting for BUY_LEVEL now shows only when there is currently nothing bought unless switched on.

Improved plotting for BUYLVL now shows only when there is currently nothing bought unless switched on.

Improved plotting for SELLLVL now shows fixed line above bought price and only after bought unless switched on.

Improved Date Range now automatically uses current dates unless Enable Date Range override switched on.


TIPS: Starting out if you don't see many trades lower STOPLIMIT to 5 and BUYLVL to 1 to test with until you are familiar with how this works.

Changed SELLLVL color from Pink to Red

Red = Sell Level (default on when waiting to sell)

Orange = Buy Protection Level (default on when waiting to buy)

Blue/Yellow = FLow MA (default on, lowest of 2 EMA's & auto switches color to the one it represents)

Yellow = Slow MA (default off) 

Blue = Fast MA (default off) 

Green = Buy Level (default on when waiting to buy)
