Range calculation and color logic of the Heatmaps
The heatmap's legend is a powerful tool that helps you visualize and analyze market performance through automatically calculated value ranges and their corresponding colors. In this guide, you will learn how ranges are defined and how to interact with the legend to customize your view.
Range calculation
When the heatmap loads or when display parameters change, the system automatically:
- Determines the most suitable legend type
- Detects the minimum and maximum values of the selected metric
- Divides this span into a set of value ranges (segments)
Each range is assigned a specific color.
Every tile on the heatmap is then colored according to the range that its value falls into.
The legend and the map are directly linked — each legend segment reflects a specific value range, helping you read performance levels at a glance. The ranges recalculate dynamically when you switch metrics or change filters, ensuring the visualization always remains relevant.
Working with ranges in the legend
The legend allows you to control which value ranges are displayed on the heatmap:
- All segments are visible by default
- Click any legend segment to hide all tiles whose values fall within that range
- You can hide multiple segments or leave only a few selected ones visible
This interaction helps you focus on particular zones of market performance, highlight extremes, or reduce visual noise for clearer analysis.
Example:
If you want to display only the +3 and −3 ranges, simply click the five intermediate segments (−2 to +2) to hide them.
