Trend-following Alert E v2.7 4HHi All, Welcome to my third published Trend-following strategy for bitcoin, designed specifically for BITMEX:XBTUSD on 4H This is an improvement of my second script (v2.6) to try and reduce 'chop' in consolidating ranges. This script is the Alert script to use for settings up Alerts on Tradingview. The accompanying strategy script and explanations/caveats you can find here: In this script you will find the "active_long" and "active_long" variables (red and blue lines) that show which positions are being taken by the strategy script. Trend-following Strategy E v2.7 4HHi All, Welcome to my third published Trend-following strategy for bitcoin , designed specifically for BITMEX:XBTUSD on 4H. This is an improvement of my second script (v2.6) to try and reduce 'chop' in consolidating ranges. In order to set up Alerts for this strategy, I've created a second script called Trend-following Alert E v2.7 4H which you can find here: Here you will find the "active_long" and "active_long" variables (red and blue lines) that show which positions are being taken by the strategy script. You can set 'Once per bar close' alerts for this to get your alerts on TV. For instance, I use 'crossing up @ 0.1' on "active_long" to set an 'Open Long" alert and a 'crossing down @ 0.9' to set a 'Close Long' alert. The same holds for the 'Open Short' and the 'Close Short' alerts but then for the 'active_short' variable. As you can see from the backtest I've done my best to create a decent ROI with limited DD. Compared to the previous version (v2.6), the following has been improved: - Accuracy has been increased from 49 to 63% - Max. DD. has been reduced by 40% - ROI/DD has been increased by 77% You can also run this backtest/strategy with '100% of equity' but I would advise against trading this as your risk will fundamentally increase. With a constant order size this strategy should be quite safe to use. Going from the results it's clear that this strategy excels during clear bull/bear trends but might suffer a little bit during market chop (hopefully less with this update) There are two inputs that can be modified on this strategy, however I think the current settings are optimal for this market on the 4H candle. Quickie (Free) IndicatorQuickie is a free tradingview Indicator developed by HFT Research. It works in sideways and trending markets depending the way you set it as well as both on short time frame and long time frame. It comes with backtesting abilities on tradingview. You can find the alerts to go long and short here, please check the backtester to fine tune your strategy. Use Bollinger Bands This piece of the settings will turn and off Bollinger band’s input in the decision making. BB Length will determine the Moving average you are using to take the standard deviation off of which is named as BB Multiplier. Default settings will use 20 moving average and take standard deviation of 2 to create lower and upper bands. Increasing the Multiplier will give you fewer but safer entries Use RSI You can also turn on and off the RSI as well. Alternatively, there is an option to use RSI on a different time frame than you are currently on. For example, if you are looking at the 5min chart to use Bollinger bands but you would like to look at the RSI value on the 15min chart. You can do so by selecting the custom RSI timeframe as well as adjusting the Oversold and Overbought value. Use MA Filter Lookback: The indicator has an option to look back x number of candles to validate the price crossing. If the market is choppy and the price keeps crossing up and down the moving average you have chosen, it will generate a lot of “noisy” signals. This option allows you to confirm the cross by selecting how many candles the price needs to stay above or below the moving average. Setting it 0 will turn it off. MA Filter Type: There is a selection of moving averages that is available on TradingView currently. You can choose from 14 different moving average types to detect the trend as accurate as possible. Filter Length: You can select the length of your moving average. Most commonly used length being 50,100 and 200. Filter Type: This is our propriety smoothing method in order to make the moving averages lag less and influence the way they are calculated slightly. Type 1 being the normal calculation and type 2 being the secret sauce . Reverse MA Filter: This option allows you to use the moving average in reverse. For example, the strategy will go long when the price is above the moving average. However, if you use the reserve MA Filter, you will go short when the price is above the moving average. This method works best in sideways market where price usually retraces back to the moving average. MAFIA CANDLESMafia Candles is a Exhaustion bar count and candle count indicator, Using the Leledc Candles and 1-3 counting candle play gives you a pretty good idea where a so called "top" will be or a so called "bottom" will be! In this example, getting the transparent round circles ( either lime or red ) would mean that the move will be a good size move! EXAMPLE=1 You see a down trend and then the Mafia Candles Flashes a Green Dot on the forming new red candle. This is where in theory you might want to consider going long on the market! LELEDC THEORY USAGE... An Exhaustion Bar is a bar which signals the exhaustion of the trend in the current direction. In other words an exhaustion bar is “A bar of last seller” in case of a downtrend and “A bar of last buyer”in case of an uptrend. Having said that when a party cannot take the price further in their direction,naturally the other party comes in , takes charge and reverses the direction of the trend. Now let's assume that we have a group of people,say 100 people who decides to go for a casual running. After running for few KM's few of them will say “I am exhausted. I cannot run further”. They will quit running. After running further, another bunch of runners will say “I am exhausted. I can’t run further” and they also will quit running. This goes on and on and then there will be a stage where only few will be left in the running. Now a stage will come where the last person left in the running will say “I am exhausted” and he stops running. That means no one is left now in the running.This means all are exhausted in the running. The same way an exhaustion bar works and if we can figure out that exhaustion bar with all the tools available on hand, we will be in a big trade for sure!!.The reason is an exhaustion bar is formed at exact tops and bottoms most of the times.In forex with wide variety of pairs available at the counter ,one can trade this technique to make lifetime gains. Trend reversal strategy "muxie2" with safety SL, about 2x PFThis is a modified version of my script muxie1. The muxie1 is more profitable in backtesting but is more risky as the stop loss is only triggered when a reversal happens and orders 2x more in reverse direction. The current script works the same but if loss is substancial and reaches the safety stop loss then the trade is closed. This uses 2 EMA and Stop Loss and Take Profit, The soft stops don't fire at the precise value but only when the trend reverses it is actually good for 1D timeframe since 2019, it was however optimised for 1min but I am not able to share scripts for 1m. Have equivalent code for quantum zone Ftx. Note the stops are in dollars of btc price, so this makes sense for bitcoin only.
